LP Released by Apple Records (1972). 1st solo album by Lennon after break-up of the Beatles. Backed by the Plastic Ono Band (Lennon on guitar, Ringo Starr on drums, and Klaus Voormann on bass), in tandem with the similarly titled album by his wife, Yoko Ono. Often referred to as "John & Yoko/ Plastic Ono Band", this double album of both studio and live recordings addressed current news and world issues, including racism, women's liberation and U.S. politics. The cover opens up to show images of the band and live performances, and includes a 5" x 3 1/2" card showing the Statue of Liberty with John and Yoko's printed signatures, along with "Sometime in New York City '72".
