Description
Christopher Banahan was born in 1958 in Nottingham, United Kingdom. He received an MA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths in 1984. In 1990, he was awarded a Rome Scholarship in Painting at the British School at Rome. He has works in many public collections, such as Microsoft Ireland, OPW, The Arts Council and the European Central Bank. His work has been selected for numerous open competitions such as EVA, COE, Iontas, and the RHA Annual. In Head (9), Christopher Banahan continues his exploration of the human form using mixed media and oil on a canvas panel. Created in 1997, the work combines painterly texture with experimental materials to produce a layered, expressive portrait. The framed piece measures 16.5 by 18.75 inches and reflects Banahan’s interest in abstraction and psychological presence. The surface shows controlled energy and strong tonal contrasts. The artwork is in very good condition, with stable materials and no visible damage.
