Description
A striking antique Japanese Satsuma earthenware floor vase dating to the late Meiji period, circa 1900–1915. The vase features a rich persimmon-to-oxblood ground decorated with large stylized blossom motifs and finely hand-painted reserves depicting birds among flowering branches.
The shoulder is adorned with elaborate gilt brocade ornamentation and jeweled enamel accents, executed in traditional Satsuma enamels with delicate hand stippling. The surface displays the characteristic fine Satsuma crackle glaze throughout.
Measuring an impressive 21 inches in height and presented on a carved hardwood display stand, the piece reads beautifully across a room and functions as a true statement decorative object. Works equally well in traditional, Chinoiserie, or Japandi interiors.
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Good antique condition consistent with age and decorative display use. Light, expected wear to gilt decoration and surface consistent with early 20th century Satsuma earthenware. The interior rim presents a stable age-related glaze line (glaze-only) visible from above; it does not extend through the body and the vase remains structurally sound and displays beautifully. No repairs observed. Carved wood stand shows minor surface wear appropriate to age.
