Description
Vintage Oil Painting 'Bunte Szene' - Miklós Németh, 1962
Executed in a dynamic, expressive manner, the composition combines elements of Hungarian modernism with influences of German Expressionism. Bold brushstrokes and abstracted forms give the work a vibrant rhythm and emotional depth. The color palette is dominated by radiant reds, yellows, greens, and blues, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. The motif depicts what appears to be a village or small-town scene: in the foreground, two stylized human figures and several trees can be seen, while the background reveals houses, a church topped with a prominent white cross, and a stylized yellow sun crowning the upper part of the painting. Oil on cardboard. Information about the artist are sticked on the backside.
Miklós Németh was a prominent Hungarian painter known for his landscapes, nudes, and genre scenes. Born in Budapest in 1934, he studied at the Free Art School of Budapest (1950–1954) and became an active figure within Hungary's postwar art scene, participating in several artist colonies. His work is distinguished by an intense exploration of color and form, often balancing between figurative and abstract expression. Today, Németh's paintings frequently appear in international art auctions.
