Antique Black Forest Red Deer Trophy on Carved Plaque - Germany 1930

An antique red deer (Capreolus capreolus) trophy on a wooden carved plaque with dark brown finish. The trophy was shot in 1930. Good condition with engraved inscription of date and place of the hunt on a metal plate mounted on the plaque.

Trophies are mementos from the hunted game, which are kept by the huntsmen as a souvenir or decorative item. For many centuries it was a tradition to collect trophies. Nowadays exactly these are becoming more and more popular as decorative highlights in hunting lodges.
