Venini Art Glass Vase with Inciso Decoration Paolo Venini, Murano 1956

A vintage art glass vase in erba pesante (grass green) glass with layered colours and clear glass overlay. The whole surface decorated with horizontal light grinding. Designed by Paolo Venini and manufactured by Venini Murano Venice in the 1950s. Venini model number 3683 which is a reinterpretation of a model designed by Carlo Scarpa in the 1930s. This model was exhibited on the 28th Venice Bienale in 1956. Stand with some traces of use, no signature detectable.

In 1921 Paolo Venini and Giacomo Cappellin founded a company that would become world famous. Under the artistic directions of Vittorio Zecchin the Vetri Soffiati Cappellin Venini & C. become the whiz kid of the golden 1920s. Over the decades, countless world-renowned artists like Napoleone Martinuzzi, Carlo Scarpa, Tomaso Buzzi, Fulvio Bianconi, Tuni Zuccheri, Thomas Stearns, Toots Zynski or Ettore Sottsass have enthusiastically worked for Venini, designing something very special with each of their new techniques and designs. The creations of Venini were honored with several awards. Till today Venini is one of the leading art glass manufacturies on Murano.
