Description

A stunning example of 1970s studio craft, this handmade desk clock showcases the era's celebration of natural materials and artisan techniques. Crafted from alternating strips of light and dark wood creating dramatic striped patterns throughout the arch-topped form, the piece features a recessed clock face with circular wood inlay hour markers and sleek black hands. The back panel removes for easy battery access.

The laminated wood technique and organic form exemplify the American studio craft movement of the 1970s, when artisans elevated functional objects into sculptural statements. This aesthetic championed visible craftsmanship and the inherent beauty of wood grain, moving away from mass production toward individual expression.

In excellent vintage condition with minimal wear. Clock includes new quartz movement requiring one AA battery. Unsigned.
