Veracruz, ca. 600 - 900 CE. Molded salmon-buff color pottery standing smiling sonriente figure holding a hook-knife or rattle in his left hand, raised left hand. Wearing a fancy headdress with a relief geometric decoration, ear ornaments, beaded necklace, bra band and loincloth both are decorated with relief glyphic decoration. A nice example.. 13”H x 8”W (33 x 20.3cm).
Provenance: Estate of Eugene (1899-1985) and Hedwig (1897-1989) Fleischhacker, Ontario, Canada and New Hampshire. Collected 1950’s-1970’s. To family by descent.

Scattered mineral and surface deposits. Head and left arm are cleanly reattached, head is repaired from approximately four original pieces, with restored break lines, missing tip of left thumb, a stable hair line across the loincloth, otherwise overall excellent condition.
