Maya regions, ca. 600 - 900 CE. Large gray painted orangeware (plumbate type), deity head pot, having exaggerated facial features, large projecting lower lip with upper teeth exposed, high bulbous cheek bones and heavy brows with incised wrinkled forehead. A very impressive example.. 8.25”H x 11.75”W (21 x 29.8cm).
Provenance: Private Florida collection, acquired from Barry Kernerman, Toronto, ex. Samuel Dubiner, Tel Aviv, 1960’s.
