Description
Often depicted as the "king of the jungle", it has been used as a symbol of royalty, from many ancient civilizations from: Pre-Egyptian, Byzantine, Roman, Greek, Middle Eastern, Indian, Chinese, and even currently as the central depiction of English and French heraldry.
Once found in Africa, Eurasia, India, and in the America’s, as far down as Peru, the wild lions can now only be found in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and an endangered remnant population in India.
In this 14th collection of Alberto Juan lion jewelry we celebrate the depiction of the wild African lion on Pre-Roman Etruscan civilization as well as the more modern cave lion’s royal style.
This is the 5th piece of my 14th collection of Lion inspired jewelry.
The pendant on this necklace was carved in an Etruscan design from a solid piece of wax, then molded and cast in brass, then plated in 18 kt gold vermeil.
The lion head on the necklace measures 23 mm's long with the bale by 14 mm's wide.
The necklace and hang tag are solid sterling silver and measure 16" long. Marked, "AJ" for "Alberto Juan".
Available as sterling silver($110), 18 kt gold vermeil over sterling silver($130), and sterling silver over brass($90) and with the polish of your choice (polished or antiqued).
As with all Alberto Juan jewelry comes in a protective Velvet black bag, shown in some listings.
