Footnote:
This rare cartoon was one of many produced during the period in support of Queen Caroline in her divorce proceedings against George IV. It depicts John Bull and British soldiers acclaiming the Queen, while George IV, burdened by spies, secrets, and the “green bags” of fabricated evidence assembled for the divorce case, is artificially propped up by his ministers, courtiers, and the judiciary. The cartoon is held in the collections of the British Museum, The National Archives, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Condition Report:
Time staining with some dirty marks and smudges. Rips and tears to edges. A little fading to washes. Not viewed out of glazed frame.
