Description
This is a set of 12 fine porcelain dessert or cabinet plates produced by the Jean Pouyat factory in Limoges, France. Each circular plate features a scalloped and relief-molded rim decorated with scrolling details highlighted in gilt. The centers are individually hand-painted with varied marine motifs depicting seashells, including whelks and scallops, nestled in wispy green and blue seaweed. The color palette utilizes soft pastel shades of pink, lavender, tan, and seafoam green. The underside of each plate bears a green underglaze factory mark reading PAT'D 15th MAR 92 J.P. L. FRANCE, identifying the maker and indicating the patent date for the molded blank form. Additionally, each plate features an overglaze gold script signature on the reverse for the artist J. Guimondy.
