"Lemon on a Plate". Oil on canvas, signed lower right and dated '89. titled on label verso from an exhibition in May '96, giving an original price of $2500. Marked "Portland Museum of Art, Maine". In slat birch frame with shadow line.

William Charles Collins earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana. From 1951 to 1954, he was Instructor of Drawing at Albright Art School in Buffalo, New York. From 1945 to 1967, he was Instructor of Drawing and Painting at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. From 1967 to 1972, he was at Washington University in St Louis, and from that time was Director of the Portland Art School in Maine.
