19 w x 32, Beautifully restored. This is an ornate Style 146 cylinder-style grocery computing scale manufactured by The Computing Scale Company of Dayton, Ohio. The unit features a cast iron body finished in a deep teal high-gloss paint, accented with brass and brass-plated decorative scrollwork on the housing ends, central supports, and top crest. The mechanism utilizes a horizontal drum housing a rotating price-calculation chart visible through a glass window on the merchant side. The customer side features a vertical weight verification window marked STYLE 146. A thick circular glass weighing platform is supported by a four-arm cast iron spider frame. The top brass crest is inscribed: THE COMPUTING SCALE CO. DAYTON, OHIO - U.S.A. Above the main viewing window, a metal frame lists various patent dates between September 3, 1895, and December 6, 1904. This manufacturer was a primary entity that merged to form the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (CTR), which was renamed International Business Machines (IBM) in 1924.
