Set AOPA 50th Anniversary Aviation Plaques

Description

A set of metal-rimmed aviation plaques commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Each plaque features a color-printed illustration by aviation artist Keith Ferris. Depicted aircraft models include a Curtiss JN-4D Jenny, a Piper Apache, a Piper Tri-Pacer, a Beechcraft 17 Staggerwing, a Beechcraft 35 Bonanza, and a Piper J-3 Cub. The artwork on each plaque includes an AOPA winged logo with the dates 1939-1989 and is signed in print ? 1989 Keith Ferris. The plaques are constructed with wide, polished metal rims, possibly pewter or silver-plated, and are housed in a custom-fitted two-tier wooden display shelf. A brass presentation plate is mounted at the top of the wooden frame, engraved with the AOPA winged logo and the inscriptions Flight, Aldo W. Balestra, 50th Anniversary, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
