Description

This lot features two decorative metal table articles intended for use as salt cellars or small trinket dishes. The first item is a swan-form holder rendered in cast metal with a golden-toned patina. The swan is modeled with detailed feathering and supports a circular metal ring that houses a removable cylindrical cobalt blue glass liner. The second item is a footed metal dish with a silver-toned finish. The piece consists of a scalloped shell-form bowl resting on a fluted pedestal base. A small cast figure of a seated cherub or putto playing a violin is mounted to the rim. The underside of the shell is stamped with a maker mark featuring a crown above a script letter J and the word SPAIN in capital letters. Swan height: 4 inches (to wing tip) Shell dish height: 2.5 inches Glass liner diameter: 2 inches. Both items show surface tarnish, oxidation, and wear to the metallic finishes consistent with age and use. The cobalt blue glass liner is free of chips or cracks. The cast details on both pieces remain well-defined.
