Description
This quite finely woven Central Persian city carpet has a velvety pile of Manchester-spun Merino wool. The royal blue inscription cartouche and quatrefoil border frames the ruby red field with a small inscription octogramme developing stem, vines and rosette flowers. Tall half-columns with zig-zag and striped sections run along the field sides. Manchester wool was used in post-WWI Kashans only in the 1920's. Cotton foundation. Good condition.
