Description

Papua New Guinea, Middle Sepik region. A carved wood Yipwon figure of tall, attenuated form, with openwork crescent elements enclosing a central ancestral face in profile. The elongated body tapers downward to a pointed lower section and small integral foot, with incised geometric details near the base.

Size 56" L x 6 1/2" W

Wear consistent with age and use, including surface abrasions, age splits, pigment loss, minor losses, and weathering throughout.
