Cast bronze entry knob featuring a stag at rest in the forest, made by Corbin for the CT State Capitol c. 1878...along with the the original door plate, 7.5" x 2" which has a repair on the reverse and a small clip on the right side...this is one of two knob designs used on the building, the other being Lot 116...the plate certainly looks like it cme from another famous hardware company, but see the page from the Corbin catalog of 1881--in which it is titled the Capitol design... the Stag knob is an all-time favorite of collectors and rarely comes to market and the plate is even more scarce...this example in excellent condition...
