19th Century Russian Icon
Tempera on wood panel and an elaborate repousse and chased brass oklad having four attached blue enamels having gilt Cyrillic, an open work halo having topazes, an 1897 Ministry of Internal Affairs, St. Petersburg tax stamp to verso of oklad and wood panel, illegible ink notation to reverse of panel, accompanied by a conservator's list of actions taken and photographs documenting progress of work

Height: 12 5/8 inches, Width: 10 3/8 inches, Depth: 2 inches
Condition: restorations including paint consolidation, reversing of previous restoration, inpainting, varnishing, panel warped but stabilized using dovetail cleats, oklad fold-over edge having occasional light dents, a topaz lost and replaced with glass, an enamel chipped upper left
