CUI CESAR: (1835-1918) Russian Composer, a member of The Five Group. Professor, Engineer and General. An exceptional A.M.M.S., `C. Cui´, two pages, folio, [1886], to the inner pages of a bifolium musical score 12-line pages, bearing to the upper corner the blind embssed seal of Lard-Esnault, Ed. Bellamy. A very rare complete Piano Miniature, the work corresponding to the sixth piece from Cui´s Miniatures for piano, Opus 39, which he composed in 1886. The miniature was composed in E-flat major, and is marked Andantino to the heading by the Russian composer. Cui has carefully and cleanly penned 67 bars of music on two staves. In very fine condition.
The present Andantino from the Miniatures for Piano, Op. 39, unfolds with an engaging blend of melodic grace and introspective charm. From the opening phrase, the music presents a lyrical line in E?flat major that gently oscillates between serenity and subtle expressive nuance. Throughout its 67 measures, Cui’s craftsmanship is evident in the interplay of singable motifs and delicate harmonic shading, creating a miniature that feels complete in emotional arc despite its brevity.
