SEVERINI GINO: (1883-1966) Italian painter, a leading member of the Futurist movement and a co-signatory of the Manifesto of the Futurist Painters in February 1910. A scarce A.L.S., Gino Severini, one page, 4to, Paris, 6th January 1935, to a gentleman, in French. Severini writes a charming letter, ´J’ai reçu le petit dragon porte-bonheur que vous avez eu la gentillesse de m’envoyer. Je vous remercie infiniment de cette délicate pensée qui m’a beaucoup touché; (c’était si peu ce que je vous avais donné !). Nous garderons ce petit objet en votre souvenir dans ma maison; ma fille l’a trouvé si joli qu’elle s’en est emparée ; mais s’il porte bonheur à elle, il va de soi qu’il remplit son rôle et porte bonheur à toute la famille´ (Translation: ´I have received the little lucky dragon that you were kind enough to send me. Thank you so very much for this thoughtful gesture, which touched me deeply; (it was such a small thing I had given you in return!). We will keep this little trinket in my home as a memento of you; my daughter thought it so pretty that she’s taken it for herself; but if it brings her good luck, it goes without saying that it’s fulfilling its purpose and bringing good luck to the whole family´).
