Gagarin and Titov´s presence at the World Congress for General Disarmament and Peace in Moscow was a significant part of the opening events and the broader Soviet effort to link space exploration with peaceful global cooperation. On 9th July 1962, the two cosmonauts were photographed at the opening ceremony in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses, where they were seen greeting international delegates.
