UIBERREITHER SIEGFRIED: (1908-1984) Austrian Nazi Gauleiter and Reichsstatthalter of Reichsgau Styria during World War II. A World War II date T.L.S., Uiberreither, with holograph subscription, one page, small 4to, Graz, 20th April 1944, to Franz Bohme, in German. Uiberreither writes a letter of thanks, in full, ´I have received your good wishes on the occasion of my birthday with particular pleasure, and ask you to accept my warmest thanks´. Accompanied by the original envelope. VG

Franz Bohme (1885-1947) Austrian General in the Wehrmacht during World War II, serving as Commander of the XVIII Mountain Corps, Hitler's Plenipotentiary Commanding General in the Balkans, and Commander-in-Chief in German-occupied Norway during World War II. Bohme was arrested for trial by a US Army Tribunal in Nuremberg as part of the Hostages Trial on a charge of having massacred thousands of Serbian civilians. Bohme committed suicide when his extradition to Yugoslavia seemed imminent.
