Christopher P.H. Murphy (Savannah, 1869-1939), Two Figures Reading a Newspaper, Watercolor, unsigned, depicting two females in an interior, in a giltwood frame. Frame size: 11 1/2 in. x 9 1/8 in.

Provenance: descended from the artist to the Christopher P.H. Murphy family collection.

Christopher P. H. Murphy was a prominent Savannah artist in the 19th and 20th century. Though he had no formal artistic training his work was exhibited at the Fourth Annual Exhibition of American Art in New York, Art Institute of Chicago, Cincinnati Art Museum, Washington Watercolor Club, and Southern States Art League, among others.

Measurements: Height: by sight 9 1/2 in. x Width: 7 3/8 in.

Overall good condition, toning to paper, not viewed out of frame.
