This small needlework (possibly Crewelwork) on silk is dated 1836 and appears to be a memorial to a child, Johanes. There is a small round image in the center of a young boy hugging a sheep. Below the picture, Johanes is stitched in tiny stitches and just below that 1836 (possibly the year it was made, or possibly the date of Johanes' birth or death). The needlework measures 6 1/2" x 8 5/8" and it is framed in a contemporary wooden frame measuring 7 1/4" x 9 3/8". The stitching is complete, and only some light discoloration/staining on the silk (lower right) and a bit of deterioration (does not impact any of the stitch work) in the upper right corner. That "blue" streak on the left is flash bounce. Not examined out of the frame.
