ROYAL COUPLE 17TH CENTURY NEEDLEWORK

Description

Needlework panels depicting a King playing a lute and a Queen holding a fan. These panels were probably intended to embellish a mirror or chest but were never separated and used, which accounts for their remarkable condition. Silk, silver metallic thread, and mica on silk; 20 x 20 inches framed. The frame is period and glass are early.

The silver metallic thread is tarnished and has missing areas. The silk threads and background are in perfect condition with very strong colors.
