Description
77.5" x 77.5" Hand pieced and embroidered African American crazy quilt circa the early 1900s. The quilt contains 25 blocks set 5x5, about 13" square mostly in rectangular and trapezoidal shapes of beautiful wool material in red, brown, gray, black, navy and pale green. Each piece is outlined with feather stitch embroidery and hand appliqued in place.The quilt contains a 5" wide gray flannel border. The backing of the quilt is made of gray cotton flannel. 19th and early 20th century African American quilts have become very collectable and extremely desirable.
