A Very Fine Set of 6 English George III Carved Mahogany Hepplewhite Dining Chairs, Circa 1790's

Mahogany chairs with beechwood seat frames.
Carved mahogany racquet style backs with carved rosettes, and acanthus type leaves. The backs are pierce cut and carved, with interesting stop fluting on the base of the backs. Moulded straight Marlborough style legs, and moulded "H" form stretchers.
The seat coverings are a form of needlepoint, and they do not match. The seat coverings could be replaced.
Provenance: Formerly of the Packwood House Museum of Lewisburg, PA
Size: 22" wide, 18" deep, 37 1/2" tall, 18" seat height.
Condition: Old historic finish, possibly refinished in the early 20th Century. The seat coverings appear to have been redone in the 30's or 40's. Miscellaneous repairs from age, wear, and use. Structurally the chairs remain intact, with minor repair patching from old breaks, but no major replacements/restorations. Several of the interior glue blocks that seats rest on have been replaced/repaired. A number of the original glue blocks with their original hand cut nails remain.
