Description
This large, hand-formed ceramic floor vase features a tall, elongated ovoid body with a dark brown to black matte finish, accented by reddish-brown mottling and a textured surface. The shoulder is decorated with a wide band of incised geometric patterns, consisting of alternating square panels containing stylized eight-petaled sunbursts and spiral motifs. The vessel has a flared rim with a small, pinched pouring spout. A thick, natural-fiber rope handle is lashed around the neck with brown cord and threaded through a circular aperture in the side of the body. While visually consistent with the mid-century designs of Arthur Andersson for Wallakra, no maker's marks are visible on the piece. An auction tag from Atlee Raber Auctions and Middlefield Antiques is attached to the handle. Dimensions: 18.5 x 8 x 8 inches (approximate).
