He was a designer, sculptor, and decorator who worked in the Rococo and Baroque styles. His countless figurines and dinner services continue to amaze, surprise, and fascinate for 300 years.The German sculptor was born on June 15, 1706, and dedicated over 40 years of his life to the Meissen manufactory.Kändler created the first examples of formal porcelain services in Europe, the most famous of which, the so-called "Swan Service," was commissioned by the factory director and Prime Minister of Saxony, Count Brühl, in the mid-18th century. It featured an unprecedentedly rich Rococo decoration.
