This captivating figural bonded marble sculpture inspired by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and made in the dramatic Baroque style features a dynamic composition of three intertwined figures and is signed "A Santini". The sculpture depicts of the "Abduction of the Sabine" and is crafted from bonded marble made by grinding marble to dust and then adding adhesive which makes very durable; the piece depicts two male figures and one female figure in an energetic, possibly mythological or allegorical, embrace. The details of the musculature and drapery are finely rendered, capturing the emotional intensity characteristic of the Baroque period. The creamy, aged patina further enhances its classical appeal. It is mounted on a rectangular black base.
