Provenance: The collection of Morris Gearring, Chicago. Gearring is an acclaimed actor, best known for his tributes to Black legends, notably Oscar Brown, Jr. The two artists crossed paths at the Ravinia Festival and the Music of the Baroque organization in Chicago. Gearring collected the work of many Chicago artists, and owned several Hunt sculptures.
