Provenance: Dr. Robert H. Derden, Chicago, to present owner. Dr Derden is a clinical psychologist and was a professor of Psychology at Chicago State and Harold Washington College. Forty-Seven works from Derden's collection were exhibited at the Community Gallery of Art at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL in 1990.
Martin Dixon studied at The Cooper Union and the University of Michigan. He built his career on immersion-style photo essays; one notable project focused on the Black motorcycle subculture of the New York Tri-state region. "Brooklyn Kings: New York City's Black Bikers". His work was included in Committed to the Image: Contemporary Black Photographers (2001); catalog accompanying the exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
