PERCUSSION CARBINE. Cal. 54. 15012. Bbl. 21" rnd. with dovetail mounted blade front sight and V-notch adj. rear sight. Lever operated case colored action with saddle ring on left side. Top tang is marked "STARR PATENT/ SEPT.14TH.1858". Bbl. and lockplate are marked "STARR ARMS CO/ YONKERS N.Y.". Top of breech end of bbl. has "1/ ARK/ B" Arkansas Cavalry markings. Brass band fastened walnut forearm and straight grip stock with crescent brass buttplate. Total of 20,601 mfg. 1862-1865. CONDITION: fine, retaining over 75% lightly faded blue and case colored metal finish showing a few small spots of corrosion. Wood shows scattered scratches and handling marks. Stock has a repaired chip at the toe. Sound action, maybe unissued. Bright, near excellent bore. (01-28726/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
