Cast iron mechanical tool mounted to a heavy painted wood base. The device features a lever-actuated gripping mechanism and adjustable jaws designed to clamp and pull pipe. Examples of this form were used in the maintenance and repair of rural water wells, windmills, and related water delivery systems. The casting bears a partially legible maker’s mark ending in “MFG. CO., DUBUQUE, IA.” along with casting numbers visible on the body.Produced by an unidentified manufacturer in Dubuque, Iowa, likely late 19th to early 20th century.

The cast iron components remain mounted to the original wood base. The tool exhibits heavy wear, oxidation, paint loss, weathering, and age-related deterioration to the wood. Surface wear and chipping are present throughout. The mechanism has not been tested under working conditions.
