Description
(1825 - 1901) Confederate Army colonel who was denied appointment as brigadier general after Confederate President Davis failed to nominate him. After the war he returned to Kentucky and became a Deputy U.S. Marshal and later a local chief of police. War-date A.N.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p.], Nov. 30. 1862, to a Major Reeve, in full: ‘I am without couriers and will be obliged, if you will send two or three.’ He signs ‘T. H. Taylor’ in black ink at the conclusion, adding his (unconfirmed!) rank ‘Brig. Genl.’ Expertly inlaid, possibly slightly trimmed at the left edge, and with one each vertical and horizontal folds, otherwise in very good condition overall.
