Description
(1831-1863) Confederate colonel and brigade commander, recommended for promotion to Brigadier General for distinguished conduct at Chickamauga but died of typhus before his appointment could be confirmed. Very rare war-date A.E.S. on a manuscript document, 1p. 4to., [Savannah], Aug. 4, 1862, granting leave of absence to a Corporal Robert K. Dimond of the Savannah Light Guard. Wilson executes his endorsement on the verso in black ink, in full: ‘Application for leave of absence for Corpl R. K. Dimond. Approved & forwarded C. C. Wilson Col. Comdg’. Shows expected folds, with some soiling affecting Wilson’s endorsement and signature, otherwise in very good condition overall.
