Description: Vintage Carved Massive Crucifix Salvaged from Catholic Church This statue of Jesus hanging on a forked cross was salvaged from an old church in the Chicago area. This piece has been precisely carved from wood, and the sculpture of Jesus has glass eyes. Forked cross depictions of Christ originate from medieval Germany. Like this example, they tend to show Jesus in an incredibly battered state, hence their alternative name, crucifixus dolorosus. This large and unusual crucifix would be a unique centerpiece in a church, chapel, religious center or home.
