This Canada blank planchet is a Type II error, signifying it has undergone the upsetting process to produce a raised rim but was never struck by dies. The planchet is composed of a brown copper or bronze alloy and is sized for a cent denomination. Both the obverse and reverse faces are featureless and smooth. The edge is plain. The coin is housed in a vintage cardboard 2x2 flip fastened with staples. The front of the flip features the handwritten notation 2ND STAGE - CANADIAN BLANK in blue ink. The reverse side is inscribed PETER DE GRAAF 15.00 in black ink with a faint numerical character 8 above. Fine. The planchet shows multiple contact marks and light surface scratches consistent with the minting process. Surfaces are matte with scattered dark spots of oxidation and toning. No mint luster is present. The cardboard flip shows age-related yellowing and scattered stains.
