CA 1960 10-cent silver coin struck at the Ottawa Mint. The coin is composed of 80 percent silver and 20 percent copper. The obverse features the Mary Gillick laureate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse depicts the Bluenose schooner design by Emanuel Hahn. This specimen exhibits two distinct numismatic errors: a slightly off-center strike and a partial collar error, the latter resulting in incomplete reeding along the edge. The piece is housed in a vintage 2x2 cardboard holder with handwritten identification and provenance notes for a collector in Peterborough, Ontario. Circulated. The coin displays moderate wear on the high points of the portrait and the schooner sails. The surfaces show patchy brownish-red toning and areas of surface residue. Some original luster is visible in the protected areas of the fields. The strike is slightly off-center, and the edge milling is only partially formed due to a partial collar error as noted on the contemporary holder.
