Thank you Vintage Extra Large Frames Burmese Kalaga Tapestry "Kalaga" is the name for embroidered tapestries from Burma. They are traditionally made of linen, silk, velvet, and cotton, and adorned with stones, beads, and sequins. These masterpieces take months of hand-stitched embroidering to complete. Originating from Thailand, this piece is made in the style of the Anglo Raj and is estimated to be at least fifty years old. The complex heavenly designs are constructed from embossed silk, hand-crafted lucite, and embroidery. The piece depicts huge dragons and Thai Dancers surrounding three framed warriors. The outside warriors are both on dragons and the center warrior is on the elephant padded and textured with stones, sequins and intricate Burmese silk threading.
