Description
A 10” single sided disc record sporting the Sun Record label No. 45268 Laughing Water. Sun Record was a short-lived 1906 record label produced by the Leeds & Catlin Company of New York. Leeds & Catlin was an independent phonograph and record manufacturer based out of New York City and Middletown, New Jersey. They frequently manufactured records under alternative label names to bypass patent restrictions or supply specific distributors and only lasted from roughly mid-1906 into early 1907. The entire company was forced out of business a few years later after losing massive, aggressive patent-infringement lawsuits brought against them by industry giants Victor Talking Machine Company, Columbia Records, and Emile Berliner. In overall good condition with minor scratches. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection
