A collection of nine United States Mint annual proof sets, consisting of two sets dated 1971 and seven sets dated 1972. Each set contains five denominations: a Lincoln cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter, and Kennedy half dollar. These coins are proof strikes featuring mirror-like fields and frosted, high-relief devices. All coins bear the S mint mark for the San Francisco Mint. The sets are housed in their original government packaging, which includes clear plastic display lenses with black textured inserts and original blue outer cardboard envelopes. These sets contain copper-nickel clad compositions for the dime, quarter, and half dollar, following the removal of silver from the half dollar in 1971.
