Description: American Rococo Revival rosewood sewing or work table, circa 1850-1870. The rectangular top is fitted with two rounded drop leaves, forming an elongated oval surface when extended. A shaped fall front opens to a deep storage well lined in figured bird's-eye maple. Serpentine aprons carved with scrolling foliage are raised on four cabriole legs with carved knees and delicate foliate feet. The refined proportions, contrasting figured interior, and functional expanding form distinguish this unusually elegant work table.

Rosewood surfaces exhibit scattered scratches, abrasions, stains, finish variation, and edge wear. Top and leaves have minor veneer cracks, small edge losses, and surface marks. Bird's-eye maple interior has staining, discoloration, scratches, and wear from use. Brass hardware has oxidation and wear. Leaf supports, lock, and structural stability have not been fully tested.
