This antique automotive swivel searchlight was manufactured by Solar (Badger Brass Manufacturing Co.) during the early 20th century, approximately 1900 to 1915. The unit is constructed from nickel-plated metal, likely brass, and features a heavy-duty adjustable swivel mounting bracket. This bracket terminates in a C-clamp with two mounting bolts designed for attachment to a vehicle's frame, windshield post, or cowl. The lamp houses a single incandescent bulb marked 20 c.p. on the metal base, positioned at the center of a silvered parabolic reflector. The glass lens is held by a hinged bezel with a top-mounted screw tensioner. The light is aimed manually using a turned wood handle with a bulbous end. The wooden handle is stamped with the capital letters SOLAR. A single black electrical wire exits through the handle.
