A pair of vintage nautical-themed table lighters, each designed as a miniature ship's wheel or helm. The lighters are constructed from cast base metal with a polished chrome finish. Each piece features an eight-spoke steering wheel with a black-finished center hub, mounted horizontally on a tall, flared cylindrical pedestal base. The underside of each base contains a recessed black-finished metal plate held in place by two brass screws. This plate is embossed with the following literal characters in a circular arrangement: PAT. PEND. at the top, FUEL and FLINT flanking the internal components, and MADE IN U.S.A. at the bottom. A small embossed square icon containing a shield-shaped crest is located between the words PAT. PEND. and FUEL (Photo 5). No manufacturer name is spelled out on the objects. Dimensions: 7 in high.
