Description
This southern folk art stoneware face jug is a fine work by renowned potter Marie Rogers (1922-2010), who learned the craft after marrying Horace Rogers, a fourth-generation Jugtown potter. The miniature piece features a squat ovoid body with hand-molded facial features, an applied handle, and a rich brown alkaline glaze. It is signed "Marie Rogers" on the reverse and stamped "MR" on the base. The jug measures approximately 2 7/8 in. H x 3 1/8 in. W x 3 1/8 in. D. Good condition with light wear consistent with handling.
