Description
Ge?glazed Square Gu?shaped VaseSuggested Date: Qing Dynasty, in the style of Song?dynasty Ge wareDimensions: Height 9.37 in, Mouth Diameter 3.94 inCondition: No cracks, chips, losses or later restorations. The entire surface bears natural crackle, with aged patina accumulated within fissures from long?term transmission. Worn patina is visible along the rim and foot corners. The glaze retains its original antique luster. Minor scattered pinholes on the glaze are inherent firing characteristics.Object DescriptionThis square gu?shaped vase is an archaizing decorative porcelain piece modelled after ancient bronze gu ritual vessels. It features a square?form with simulated flanges, flaring mouth, constricted neck, squared bulbous mid?section, tapering lower body and flaring square foot. The silhouette is upright and well?proportioned with crisp angular transitions. The interior and exterior are fully covered in Ge?style glaze. The lustrous glaze is densely covered with interlaced network crackles. Aged patina settled within fissures creates the visual effect of “gold thread and iron wire” characteristic of Ge ware. The foot reveals dark?brown exposed body simulating the “iron foot” feature of Song Ge ware. With restrained, mild glaze quality, it represents a typical Qing?dynasty scholar?studio decorative vessel emulating Song Ge ware, suitable for desk?top display and appreciation.
