Its structure consists of four sections: flared mouth, constricted neck, bulbous belly, and flat ring foot. The rim flares wide outward in a trumpet shape, the neck tapers inward, the lower belly is full and rounded, and the ring foot at the base is solid and stable. The flowing curves of the vessel transition gently with well-balanced proportions, presenting a simple, dignified silhouette. In antiquity, zhadou were used to hold food scraps and tea residue during feasts, and also served as decorative water basins for scholar’s desks. They were common daily wares among folk households in the Song and Yuan dynasties, and this piece fully retains the authentic stylistic features of its era.Glaze & Body ClayThe entire vessel is covered in bluish white glaze with pale grayish-white undertones. The thin, smooth, translucent glaze is covered all over the interior and exterior with fine natural aged crackles formed over centuries of weathering. Tiny black aged soil stains and firing specks scattered across the glaze are inherent marks from original kiln firing and long-term burial.The ring foot base is unglazed to expose the body clay, which is pale off-white with a dense yet slightly coarse texture. Distinct spiral throwing marks from hand-forming are visible at the base center, and the foot rim bears ancient soil patina accumulated over time. The seamless transition between glaze and clay embodies the characteristic body-glaze combination of regional bluish white porcelain kilns of the Song and Yuan periods.Craftsmanship & ConditionThe vessel was entirely hand-thrown, with clear spiral throwing lines visible both inside and out, authentic evidence of ancient hand ceramic craftsmanship.The artifact is fully intact, free of cracks, chips or later restorations. Only natural thousand-year-old crackles, tiny glaze pinholes and unearthed soil mottles appear on the glaze surface, representing its original unearthed/handed-down state with no man-made damage or repairs. Complete surviving examples of this type are scarce, making its pristine condition exceptionally rare.
